Silver Screen Cinema

The Silver Screen Cinema set in Folkestone Town Hall was founded in 1896 as the fervour for the ‘moving pictures’ was taking hold.  1980 saw the closing of Folkestone Town Hall thus the loss of the beloved Silver Screen.  Thanks to Alexander ‘Sandy’ Wallace, a cinema operator from Deal and his wife Mary, the venue was restored in 1989 and has continued to operate.

Currently run by Chris Lightfoot, the Silver Screen remains a vital part of the town’s cinema history.
